Tonbow Meadow

HISTORY

The paths were all winding roads that all lead to Tonbo Meadow.

Tonbo BeforeTonbo is a Japanese word meaning dragonfly. Why a dragonfly? The dragonfly is the altruistic King of the insect world, and a bold and beautiful creature. The dragonfly has been around, unchanged, for over 250 million years - a symbol of timeless design and adaptation. By the Japanese, the dragonfly is held in special reverence for its marvelous complexity, harmonious existence with people, and warrior-like control of mosquitoes and pests. For us, the dragonfly symbolizes a great respect and appreciation for nature, and serves as a reminder of the environmental design goals and harmonious lifestyle Tonbo Meadow strives to meet.

Over the past 6 -1/2 years Anne & Bradshaw has pored over the details to make an abandoned small farm into a state of the art contribution to the community. Not satisfied with the usual clear and build concepts, they envisioned a wholistic community of gardens and trees and stress free living. Tapping the experts in environmental conservation as well as top designers they were able to bring Low Impact Development techniques and Best Management Practices together with their own brand of green building for a concept like no other in Eastern North Carolina. Enjoy!
